In this Bridge Event hosted by the?Northeast Rural Districts Research Alliance, participants will deepen their knowledge of the challenges of budgeting and finance in rural schools and districts through engagement with current research.

Keynote speaker?Dr. Kieran Killeen?whose research on budgeting and finance includes a series of studies across New England examining teacher labor markets?will present on the topic of cost effectiveness issues in rural schools with his focused presentation:???Hired Close to Home: Interactions Between Teacher Job Selection and Employer Hiring Decisions.??The half-day conference also includes presentations on efficient schools and strategies to collaboratively leverage resources across rural districts.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect the presentations to their work through facilitated dialogue, followed by dedicated time to share information and explore next steps.?By the end of the event, participants will have a greater understanding of research-based strategies and practices for budgeting and finance in rural?schools and districts.

This event is part of the NRDRA?s long-term research agenda to support the efforts of rural schools and districts in the region to ensure student success, and to understand and build local capacity to support these efforts.
