Have Some College? New Arkansas Campaign Urges You to Finish Your Degree

If you have some college, a new campaign in Arkansas is urging you to finish your degree.

Nearly 10,000 visitors have viewed the new "Come Back 2 Go Forward" website from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) since it was launched July 2.

ADHE began the four-week marketing campaign to inspire adults who have not completed college to enroll this fall and finish their degrees.

"Life offers many choices, such as completing college immediately after high school, or going back to school after learning real-world lessons and gaining valuable experience," said ADHE Interim Director Shane Broadway. "Most people realize that a college degree opens the door to more career opportunities, and it's important to encourage students to complete their degrees at any age."

The campaign, running through July 29, includes digital video shorts, commercial spots and the website (click here), featuring a non-traditional guidance counselor. This motivational personality recognizes the unique circumstances that non-traditional students face - such as too little time and money - and encourages prospective students to come back to college in order to go forward in their careers.

"We're so encouraged by the number of visitors who have come to the website as a result of just Internet and radio advertising," said Brandi Hinkle, communications coordinator. "We chose to reach this very mobile group of people where they are - in their cars, on their smart phones and on the go - to hopefully make them think about finding a way to fit school into their busy schedules."?

The website features helpful checklists, financial aid information and free tools to help prospective students - especially those with some college credits - get on track to earning a degree. Those include links to registrars at colleges and universities across the state as well as how to earn college credit for work experience through the Prior Learning Assessment process.?

Although the media campaign will continue for only one more week, officials said the website and social media portion of the campaign will remain live and active indefinitely.

The new 'Come Back 2 Go Forward' campaign from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education directs prospective students to the website (click here), full of information about returning to college at any age or stage of life, as well as fun 'motivational posters' and testimonials from students who have made the leap back to college.
