THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY INDIANA CHAPTER ANNOUNCES THE 2012 NORTHEAST INDIANA MAN & WOMAN OF THE YEAR GRAND FINALE GALA

Two Community Leaders to be Awarded Titles of Man & Woman of the Year

The Indiana Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) launched its 2012 Northeast Indiana Man & Woman of the Year campaign at a February 16th celebration. On Friday, April 27th at The Diamond Room ? Ceruti?s Summit Park, the campaign will culminate at the Grand Finale Gala, sponsored by Fort Wayne Medical Oncology & Hematology. The black tie optional event includes silent & live auctions, heavy hors d?oeuvres, live entertainment and the announcement of this year?s Man & Woman of the Year.

Six community leaders are competing for the titles of Man & Woman of the Year to inspire their communities, build awareness of LLS and greatly impact our mission for a cure. Each candidate has their personal inspiration, and may also participate in honor of this year?s Boy and Girl of the Year, Abran Pantoja and Evangelin Feeman. Abran and Evangelin are local children who are blood cancer survivors and represent over one million North Americans fighting blood cancers. Leukemia still causes more deaths among children and young adults under 20 than any other cancer.

The Northeast Branch of the Indiana Chapter is honored to present its 2012 Candidates: Adam Marshall, Midwest Technology Solutions, Mike McCaffrey, University of Saint Francis, John Montgomery, Coffee Lodge & Bakery, Kari Reith, Homemaker, Jill Sample, Granite Ridge Builders, and Craig Vanderwall, II, General Petroleum.

Collectively, in the first 5 ? weeks of this 10-week campaign, the candidates have raised more than $53,500. The money raised is used by LLS to fund research seeking cures and better therapies, and to provide information and support so patients have the best possible outcomes throughout their battle with cancer. Additionally, LLS-supported cancer treatments such as Gleevec?, Rituxan? and Velcade? are now being used to treat patients with stomach cancer, autoimmune diseases and are being tested in lung, brain, breast and prostate cancers. The titles of Man & Woman of the Year are awarded to the male and female candidates who raise the most funds during the campaign.
